Crib to Career

The Economics of Early Childhood Investment

Our premise for this work is simple: it’s imperative that we are doing everything we can to prepare our children to face the challenges of tomorrow’s labor market. And that begins with early childhood development.

Crib to Career Workshops

This summer, we traveled across our state to share insights and gather feedback on the county-level “Crib to Career Pipeline,” a data-driven mechanism for understanding each county’s relationship between early childhood development and North Carolina’s capacity for sustainable economic growth and workforce preparedness.

Summer workshop convenings featured:

  • The Connection Between Economic/Workforce Development and Early Childhood
  • Quantifying the Return: What’s the investment Potential for Your Community?
  • Connecting the Dots: Building a Workforce Pipeline that Begins in Early Childhood
  • Taking the Next Steps: A Visioning and Needs Assessment for Your Community
